Remilekun Oshodi, famously known as Remi Surutu, is a legendary Nollywood veteran whose career spans several decades in the Yoruba and English film sectors. She earned her nickname "Surutu" from her breakthrough role in a classic movie of the same name. Known for her emotional range and commanding screen presence, she has remained a consistent A-list performer across generations. Her personal journey has been marked by significant resilience. Following the passing of her eldest daughter, Ayomikun, due to complications from sickle cell anemia in 2017, Remi dedicated herself to charitable work. She founded the Ayomikun Tongue Out Foundation to carry on her daughter's legacy by supporting those in need and raising awareness for sickle cell. In 2021, she celebrated a "restoration" in her family with the birth of her first grandchild. Beyond acting, she has served in the Lagos State House of Assembly, bridging the gap between entertainment and public service.
