Funke Akindele is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and producer renowned for her role as Jenifa in the hit series Jenifa's Diary. Born in Lagos in 1977, she gained prominence with the sitcom I Need to Know (1998–2002). Her 2008 film Jenifa earned her the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress. Akindele holds the record for the highest-grossing Nigerian director, with films like Everybody Loves Jenifa surpassing ₦1 billion at the box office. Beyond entertainment, she ventured into politics as the PDP deputy governorship candidate for Lagos in 2023 and serves as UNAIDS National Goodwill Ambassador for Nigeria
