Plot
Maami (2011), directed by Tunde Kelani and adapted from Femi Osofisan’s novel, follows Kashimawo, an international soccer star, as he prepares for the 2010 World Cup. In the days leading up to the tournament, he reflects on his difficult childhood, his mother’s enduring love in the face of poverty, and his strained relationship with his father. Starring Funke Akindele, Wole Ojo, and Olumide Bakare, the film earned critical praise and four nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
