Biography
Akinyemi Sebastian Akinropo is a Nigerian filmmaker, writer, and editor best known for his debut feature film, Coming from Insanity (2019). The crime drama, inspired by a true story, follows a trafficked child from Togo who grows into a brilliant counterfeiter in Lagos. The film gained international attention after its release on Netflix and Showtime, earning Akinropo the Best First Feature Film award at the Pan African Film Festival. Originally trained in software engineering, Akinropo's passion for storytelling led him to pursue filmmaking. He honed his skills in Los Angeles before returning to Nigeria in 2005. Despite challenges in the Nigerian film industry, he remained dedicated to his craft, writing and producing content that reflects Nigerian society. His commitment to authentic storytelling and collaboration with talented actors like Gabriel Afolayan has positioned him as a notable figure in Nollywood.
