Biography

Alistair Nwachukwu is a British actor known for his role as JJ in the 2025 short film A Friend of Dorothy, which was shortlisted for Best Live Action Short at the 98th Academy Awards. Born and raised in the UK to Nigerian parents, he trained in acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, earning skills across classical and contemporary performance. Nwachukwu has done TV, film and stage work, including a role in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone and appearances in independent shorts before his breakthrough as JJ, a thoughtful, perceptive teenager who forms a friendship with an older woman in the acclaimed short. Beyond screen roles, he has ongoing work in theatre, including a casting in a stage adaptation of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
