Anya Taylor-Joy

Biography

Anya Josephine Marie Taylor-Joy is a prolific actress who has become the defining face of "high-concept" cinema, seamlessly moving between psychological horror, action epics, and prestige television. Known for her distinct ethereal presence and intensity, she first broke out in The Witch (2015) and The Queen's Gambit (2020) before anchoring major franchises like Mad Max and Dune. In early 2026, Taylor-Joy remains a fixture on streaming charts thanks to the enduring popularity of "The Gorge" (released February 2025). The genre-bending sci-fi romance, in which she stars as Drasa opposite Miles Teller, became a sleeper hit on Apple TV+, with critics praising their chemistry in a film that blends high-stakes action with a "cosmic horror" love story. She is also garnering acclaim for her performance in "Sacrifice", which began its theatrical rollout in late 2025 after a buzzy premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Romain Gavras, the satire sees her playing Joan, a fanatical zealot who kidnaps a film star (Chris Evans) and a billionaire (Vincent Cassel) to save humanity. Her "unhinged and magnetic" performance has been highlighted as a career departure into dark comedy. Looking ahead, Taylor-Joy is set for a massive end to the year with "Dune: Part Three" (releasing December 18, 2026). She reprises her role as Alia Atreides, the younger sister of Paul (Timothée Chalamet). After a brief cameo in Part Two, her character takes center stage in this conclusion to the trilogy, wielding terrifying political and psychic power as "St. Alia of the Knife." She is also preparing for a major return to series television. She stars in the upcoming Apple TV+ con-artist drama "Lucky" (expected 2026) and is attached to lead the Netflix adaptation of the bestseller "How to Kill Your Family", playing the murderous anti-heroine Grace Bernard.
