Ben Wheatley is a visionary English filmmaker, screenwriter, and animator who has carved out a unique, often macabre niche in the global film industry. Born in 1972 in Billericay, Essex, Wheatley began his creative journey in advertising and animation, winning a prestigious Cannes "Lion" for his viral video work long before he stepped onto a feature film set. He is famously efficient and technically fearless, having shot his debut feature, Down Terrace (2009), in just eight days. Wheatley’s signature style is a volatile cocktail of pitch-black comedy, visceral horror, and psychological tension. Over the last decade, he has moved from cult indie favorites like Kill List (2011) and Sightseers (2012) to high-concept adaptations such as J.G. Ballard’s High-Rise (2015) and large-scale studio blockbusters like Meg 2: The Trench.
