Chee Keong Cheung is a film-maker with talents spanning writing, directing and producing. His early work as a producer includes Cigarette (2002), and he first took on both writing and directing in Underground (2007). Over the years he has become best known for Bodyguard: A New Beginning (2008) and Redcon-1 (2018) among other action and genre films. Beyond film credits, he co-founded the UK-based studio Action Xtreme, where he leads programmes to support emerging talent, especially women in action cinema. One of his projects is “Women Into Action,” a programme that offers mentorship, production experience and exposure to the practical side of filmmaking. He also played a role in developing a master’s course in feature film-making in partnership with a university, aiming to bridge education and the film industry. Chee’s journey reflects both dedication to action cinema and a commitment to opening doors for others. His work balances creative vision, technical skill, and mentorship. Whether producing high-adrenaline action sequences or helping shape new voices, he demonstrates that staying hands-on and collaborative can still lead to work that reaches international audiences.
