Biography
Connie Temweka Gabisile Chiume was a celebrated South African actress and filmmaker. Born in Welkom, she initially trained as a nurse and worked as a teacher before transitioning to acting in 1977. Chiume gained prominence through roles in South African television series such as Zone 14, Rhythm City, and Gomora. Internationally, she was recognized for portraying Zawavari in Marvel's Black Panther films. Her career spanned over four decades, earning her multiple awards, including a lifetime achievement award at the South African Film and Television Awards in 2022. She passed away in Johannesburg at the age of 72.
