Biography
David Kazadi is a Zambian filmmaker and entrepreneur whose journey from London's streets to the forefront of African cinema is nothing short of remarkable. After moving to the UK at age five, Kazadi became entangled in gang culture during his youth. A pivotal moment came when a judge recognized his potential, offering him community service instead of jail time. Seizing this second chance, he pursued film studies at Staffordshire University, where he honed his craft and gained industry experience. In 2014, Kazadi returned to Zambia, founding Kazadi Films. His debut feature, Black Dollar (2021), became the country's highest-grossing action film. Beyond filmmaking, he serves as CEO of Hot FM and Hot TV, platforms that have become springboards for numerous Zambian influencers and comedians. Kazadi's work often tackles pressing social issues, exemplified by his upcoming youth drama series Natasha, which delves into topics like abortion and the "blesser" culture. Through his multifaceted endeavors, Kazadi is not only shaping Zambia's media landscape but also providing opportunities for emerging talents.
