Ekene Som Mekwunye is a Nigerian filmmaker and educator. He is an adjunct faculty member at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, where he teaches film production and techniques. Beyond academia, Mekwunye is known for organizing free workshops for aspiring filmmakers through his initiative, The Imagery Program, focusing on screenwriting, filmmaking, and acting for screen. In addition to directing Honey Money, Mekwunye co-produced and served as an executive producer for the film. His other notable works include Move Like A Boss, which premiered in Nigerian cinemas in August 2024, and Ambivalent and Kali, both released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in April 2024. His films I Hate Love Stories and Honey Money were showcased at the Zanzibar International Film Festival in August, marking the first Nigerian films to screen at the festival in nearly a decade.
