Fatima Maada Bio, born Fatima Jabbe in Koidu Town, Sierra Leone, is a former actress, producer, and writer who has been First Lady since 2018. She holds a degree in Performing Arts from Roehampton Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the London College of Communication. Before taking on her current role, she acted in several Nollywood productions and won a Best Supporting Actress award in 2011 for her performance in The Mirror Boy. As First Lady, she launched the “Hands Off Our Girls” campaign to combat gender-based violence and early marriage. She led a historic march in Freetown in December 2018 alongside other African First Ladies. She is known for her strong advocacy for women’s empowerment and education. Married to President Julius Maada Bio since 2013, she blends her creative background with her public service to work for sustainable change across Sierra Leone.
