Francis Onwochei is a veteran Nigerian actor, producer, director and film consultant with a career that began on stage in the early 1980s at the National Arts Theatre, Lagos. He trained with respected theatre groups and expanded into film and television as Nollywood grew, appearing in notable productions and later moving into production and consultancy. Onwochei studied surveying in Nigeria and earned postgraduate certifications in film aesthetics and directing from institutions in London, Berlin and New York, and later studied international copyright administration at Harvard Law School. His body of work includes award-winning productions such as Raging Storm, Saving Alero and Claws of the Lion. He has been recognised with honours including the Nollywood Distinguished Veterans Award and Fellow of The Arts. Onwochei has served in leadership roles in major industry bodies and was appointed head of the Best of Nollywood Awards jury. He has contributed to film development across Africa and beyond.
