Funke Olowu was a distinguished Nigerian makeup and special effects artist whose contributions significantly impacted the Nollywood film industry. Born on August 22, 1982, in Ibadan, Oyo State, she passed away on January 22, 2025, in Lagos at the age of 42 . Throughout her career, Olowu was renowned for her exceptional work in films such as Ojuju (2014), Lockdown (2019), and Mami Wata (2023) . Her artistry earned her a nomination for Best Makeup/Costume at the Best of Nollywood Awards for Ojuju . Her passing was deeply felt within the creative community. Director C.J. “Fiery” Obasi, who collaborated with her on both Ojuju and Mami Wata, expressed his grief over her loss .
