Biography
Garrett Batty is an American film director, writer, and producer known for his work in faith-based cinema. A graduate of Brigham Young University, he began his career editing TV pilots and trailers in Hollywood before founding Three Coin Productions. Batty gained recognition with The Saratov Approach (2013), a film based on the true story of two missionaries kidnapped in Russia. He continued to explore themes of faith and resilience in Freetown (2015), depicting missionaries fleeing civil war in Liberia, and Out of Liberty (2019), a historical drama about Joseph Smith's imprisonment. His latest film, Faith of Angels (2024), tells the story of a boy lost in a Utah mine and the community's efforts to find him, inspired by real events. Batty's films have been recognized with awards such as the Ghana Movie Award for Best Screenplay and the Filmed in Utah Award for Best Director. He is also known for his personal resilience, having overcome significant health challenges, including a rare spinal cord injury during surgery as a teenager. Batty's work continues to inspire audiences with stories of hope and perseverance.
