Biography
Hafizu Bello is a Nigerian film director and producer, recognized as a pioneering figure in the Kannywood film industry. Born on April 5, 1974, in Kano, Nigeria, he began his career in 1999 and gained prominence with his debut film Muƙaddari in 2000, which won Best Film at the Arewa Film Awards. He continued to make significant contributions with films like Ruhi (2003), Yanayi (2004), and Qarni (2005). Bello's work has been acknowledged with multiple awards, including the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Award for Best Hausa Film for Faida in 2013 and Best Producer for Binkice in 2015. His 2022 film Aisha further solidified his reputation, earning accolades for its storytelling and direction. Educated at the Met Film School in London and the Relativity School in Los Angeles, Bello has combined international training with local narratives to craft films that resonate with diverse audiences. He is also the founder of HB Production Company Ltd, based in Kano, Nigeria.
