Harold Holscher is a South African director and screenwriter known for his work in the horror and thriller genres. He gained international recognition with his feature debut, The Soul Collector (2019), also known as 8: A South African Horror Story, which blends supernatural elements with psychological drama. The film, set in 1977 South Africa, explores themes of guilt, folklore, and the afterlife, drawing inspiration from Zulu and Xhosa traditions. Holscher's other notable works include the short film The First Time (2012) and the television drama Ngampela: Soweto Ghost Stories (2014). He is also a Berlinale Talents alumnus.
