Biography
Herty Owusu is a film writer, director, and producer whose work bridges Africa and Europe, exploring emotional dramas, thrillers, and underrepresented stories. A graduate of DeMontfort University and Raindance Film School, he holds an MA in Filmmaking with a directing focus. She’s certified by the BFI, the National Film and Television School, and trained in cinematography at Raindance. Herty has built nearly a decade of experience in screenwriting and technical filmmaking. Early in her career she directed theater in Ghana, then went on to write and produce across film, TV, and digital platforms. She wrote award-winning work for the AMVCAs and the Ghana Music Awards, and her scripts have gained recognition, including being a quarterfinalist in the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship. She created a TV game show and continues to collaborate with creatives to tell stories about underdogs, female leads, and human conflict. Based in London, she now serves as General Manager and Executive Producer, guiding teams in film and digital content production and training. Herty’s goal: films that provoke conversation, connect cultures, and leave audiences changed.
