Biography
Imoh Umoren is a Nigerian filmmaker, director, and producer. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a junior producer on various TV shows, including MTV Advance Warning and Malta Guinness Street Dance. His directorial debut came with the short film Lemon Green in 2009, which received critical acclaim. Umoren is known for his work on films such as Children of Mud (2017), which addresses homelessness, and The Herbert Macaulay Affair (2019), a biographical drama about Nigerian nationalist Herbert Macaulay. He also directed the silent film Hard Times (2015), which won an Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Award. His film Dear Bayo (2020) was screened at multiple international film festivals and won several awards. In addition to his filmmaking, Umoren is an advocate for mental health awareness and has openly discussed his personal experiences with depression. He continues to be a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, known for his impactful storytelling and dedication to his craft.
