Jennifer Gatero is a Kenyan filmmaker, writer, and director based in Nairobi. Her journey into the film industry began at 19 when a high school script she penned, Better Days, was produced by KTN. This early success ignited her passion for storytelling. She pursued film studies at the Mohammed Amin Foundation and later founded Avant Films, a production company dedicated to creating compelling narratives. Gatero's notable works include the TV drama Changing Times, which earned accolades such as Best TV Drama. Her filmography also features This Is Life (2018), Nairobby (2021), and A Better Life (2023). Beyond directing, she has a keen interest in documentaries and is actively developing new projects. A passionate advocate for the arts, Gatero encourages young creatives to pursue their talents despite societal pressures. Her dedication to authentic storytelling continues to inspire the next generation of filmmakers in Kenya and beyond.
