José Granell is a British model and miniature effects specialist with a long track record in film production. He began his career in practical effects in the 1980s and worked with legendary effects artist Derek Meddings, which opened doors into major motion picture model work. Granell co‑founded and leads The Magic Camera Company, a studio based in the UK that builds detailed physical models and miniatures for film and television. His work has been featured on major franchises and projects, including V for Vendetta, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and entries in the Harry Potter series, where finely crafted models were used in visual effects sequences. Recently, he was credited and recognised for model and miniature supervision on Frankenstein (2025), winning industry attention for his contribution to special effects.
