Kevin Patrick Smith (born August 2, 1970, in Red Bank, New Jersey) is an American filmmaker, actor, writer, producer, and podcaster. He first shot to fame with his low-budget, cult-classic film Clerks (1994), where he wrote, directed, produced, and starred as Silent Bob. He went on to create a shared cinematic universe known as the View Askewniverse featuring characters like Jay and Silent Bob in films like Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma. Smith also owns the comic book shop Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash and co-hosts several popular podcasts under the SModcast Network.
