Biography
Kofi Asamoah, known professionally as Kofas, is a Ghanaian filmmaker, writer, and producer. Born on March 27, 1987, in Assin Anyinabrem, Ghana, he grew up in Takoradi. He attended Mfantsipim School and later pursued filmmaking at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), earning a degree in Film Directing. Kofi furthered his studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and the New York Film Academy. In 2009, Kofi began his professional career as a news reporter at Skyy Power FM/TV. He gained prominence in 2012 with the comic series "Boys Kasa," featuring the character Kalybos. His notable films include Amakye and Dede (2016), Kalybos in China (2015), John and John (2017), and Away Bus (2019). Amakye and Dede won Best Movie of the Year at the 2016 City People Entertainment Awards. As the CEO and Creative Director of Kofas Media, Kofi has shaped the landscape of Ghanaian cinema. His work blends humor with social commentary, resonating with audiences both locally and internationally.
