Marcello André Hernández is a Cuban-Dominican American comedian, writer, and actor who has quickly become one of the most popular faces of modern sketch comedy. A native of Miami, he made history in 2022 as the first member of Generation Z to join the cast of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL), where his high-energy delivery and culturally specific humor—often centered on his Latino upbringing and family—made him an instant breakout star. In early 2026, Hernández is capitalizing on his massive popularity with the release of his debut stand-up special, "American Boy". Premiering on Netflix on January 7, 2026, the hour-long set was filmed in his hometown of Miami and explores his life as a "middleman" between diverse cultures. To support the special, he is currently headlining a sold-out national theater tour, with major dates in Boston and New York scheduled for February 2026. On SNL, Hernández remains a central figure of the current season (Season 51). Following the mid-season departure of cast member Bowen Yang, Hernández publicly confirmed his commitment to the show in January 2026, stating he has no plans to leave. His character "Domingo"—a smooth-talking recurring persona—became a pop culture phenomenon in 2025, particularly after a star-studded sketch at the SNL 50th Anniversary Special featuring Bad Bunny and Pedro Pascal. Beyond the stage, he has successfully crossed over into film. He starred as Esteban in the 2025 comedy sequel "Happy Gilmore 2" alongside Adam Sandler. His distinctive voice is also in high demand; he is part of the cast for "The Angry Birds Movie 3" (2026) and has been announced as the voice of Fergus in the upcoming Shrek 5.
