Biography
Olamide Akinmolayan is a Nigerian filmmaker and multimedia storyteller known for blending cultural narratives with modern themes. His debut feature film, Balokun (2019), earned him an award at the Abuja International Film Festival and a nomination at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Indigenous Film (Yoruba). His 2023 film, Akudaaya, which explores Yoruba myths of reincarnation, received two nominations at the 2024 Best of Nollywood Awards. Born into a family passionate about the arts—his father was a cinematographer—Olamide developed an early interest in storytelling. He holds a degree in English and Literature from Adekunle Ajasin University and is currently pursuing a master's in Multimedia Journalism at Bournemouth University. Beyond filmmaking, he's a content developer, comedian, compere, and songwriter. His work often delves into themes of identity, culture, and social issues, aiming to resonate with diverse audiences.
