Biography
Oshoveli Shipoh is a Namibian filmmaker and creative director known for his resourceful approach to storytelling. He began his career by writing, directing, and editing self-funded short films like Where There’s Smoke and Looking for Nelao, which premiered at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre. His third short film, Painted Scars, marked a significant step in his development as a writer and director. Shipoh's feature debut, Hairareb (2019), received critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, including Best Director at the Namibia Theatre and Film Awards. He is the founder and managing creative director of StreetLeader Creative, a production company based in Namibia. Shipoh's work often explores themes of identity, resilience, and social dynamics, reflecting the complexities of Namibian society. His commitment to storytelling and visual innovation has positioned him as a prominent figure in the Namibian film industry.
