Biography
Rea Rangaka is a South African actor, writer, and director from Benoni. He began his academic journey at the University of Cape Town, earning a BA in English, Drama, Media, and Film Production. Initially set to study speech therapy, a twist of fate led him to the arts. In 2009, he secured a Fulbright Scholarship to Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Los Angeles, where his graduate film, Ode in Blood, won the Cecil B. DeMille award for Best Director. Rangaka's acting credits include roles in The Mayor, Saints and Sinners, and Troy: Fall of a City. As a director, he's known for iNumber Number and the Netflix series Savage Beauty, which delves into the dark side of the beauty industry. He emphasizes storytelling that resonates emotionally, collaborating closely with production teams to bring narratives to life. Beyond film and television, Rangaka is involved in music production and is passionate about developing ties within the industry. His multifaceted approach to storytelling continues to shape the landscape of South African cinema.
