Biography
Regina Lee Hall, born December 12, 1970, in Washington, D.C., is an American actress and producer. She earned a BA in English from Fordham University and an MA in Journalism from New York University. Initially pursuing a career in journalism, Hall transitioned into acting after her father's sudden death in 1997. She gained early recognition with roles in The Best Man (1999) and Scary Movie (2000), portraying the comedic Brenda Meeks. Her performances in The Best Man Holiday (2013) and Girls Trip (2017) further solidified her status in Hollywood. In 2018, Hall received critical acclaim for her role in Support the Girls, becoming the first African American to win the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress. She has since expanded her career into production, signing deals with Showtime and MGM Alternative to develop and produce original content. Hall continues to take on diverse roles, including her recent performance in the rock opera O'Dessa (2025) and the upcoming film One Battle After Another (2025), starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
