Scottnes L. Smith is a distinguished South African director and producer, known for his significant contributions to the film and television industry. He trained extensively at the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg), Arcada Polytechnik (Helsinki), and the University of Melbourne (Australia). Smith is a founding member of Coal Stove Pictures, where he heads the International Division, actively seeking co-production pitches with South Africa. His most notable work includes directing and co-producing "Hear Me Move" (2015), South Africa's first dance film, which garnered international recognition through selections at the Durban International Film Festival and screenings at the Cannes International Film Festival. He has also directed drama documentary series and factual content for major South African broadcasters. Furthermore, Smith was part of the directing team for Netflix's "Jiva!" and produced "There's a Bluebird in my Heart" (2016), an ADG Award winner in the student category.
