Biography
Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, was a legendary Nigerian actor and filmmaker who defined the portrayal of wealthy, authoritative figures in the Yoruba movie industry. With a career spanning over 50 years, he began on stage in 1975, starring in classics like "Kurunmi" and "Langbodo" (FESTAC '77). He transitioned to television with iconic roles in soap operas like "Mirror in the Sun" and "Megafortune" (as General Philips). In his later years, he remained active in the industry despite personal challenges. He passed away on August 15, 2025, at the age of 70. His final acting role was in Femi Adebayo's 2025 movie "Seven Doors," where his performance was described by colleagues as a "symbolic farewell."
