Tebogo Malope is a multi-award-winning South African filmmaker, celebrated for directing both narrative and commercial work. He’s earned top honors including a Cannes Lions Gold, a D&AD Pencil, two SAFTAs, and a Loeries Grand Prix Known for Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story (2023), Outlaws (2023), and For Love and Broken Bones (2016), his diverse portfolio spans documentaries, music videos—including Netflix’s Queen Sono—and branded content Over a 20-year career, he’s championed authentic African storytelling and sustainable film finance across Africa His first independent feature, Spirit, expands on themes from Kwesta and Wale’s music video, exploring identity and freedom
