Biography

Ufuoma Bakporhe is a Nigerian fiction writer, screenwriter, and creative storyteller known for her emotionally layered narratives and contemporary African storytelling. Originally trained in law, she later transitioned fully into writing, turning a long-standing passion for storytelling into a professional career. Her literary works have appeared in publications such as African Writer, Afritondo, Jalada Africa, The Kalahari Review, and Punocracy, where she has earned recognition for stories that explore identity, relationships, memory, and social realities. Bakporhe is also the winner of the 2019 Awele Creative Trust Award, further establishing her voice within contemporary African literature. In film and screenwriting, she is credited as a writer on Two Hearts, One Soul and as a producer on the short film Òdè! There Is No Bus Stop on This Trip. Known for intimate, character-driven storytelling, she continues to expand her presence across literature and screen media in Nigeria.
