Biography
Uga Carlini is a South African-Italian filmmaker known for her focus on female-driven narratives. She founded Towerkop Creations in 2010, a production company dedicated to stories about women overcoming adversity. Her notable works include the documentary Alison (2016), which tells the story of Alison Botha's survival and resilience, and the feature film Angeliena (2021), about a parking attendant pursuing her dreams. In 2023, she directed Beyond the Light Barrier, exploring Elizabeth Klarer's claims of extraterrestrial encounters. Carlini's films have received international acclaim, with Alison winning Best Documentary at the Asia Pacific International Film Festival. She is a member of the Producers Guild of America and has contributed to film education, including developing a syllabus for the Fiji Institute of Technology. Her work often blends documentary and narrative styles, aiming to inspire and empower audiences.
