Walid Mattar is a critically acclaimed Tunisian film director and screenwriter. He grew up in Tunis and joined the Tunisian Federation of Amateur Filmmakers at age 13, working as a cameraman and director of photography before making his own short films. Mattar holds a Master’s degree in engineering/productivity from Paris but soon dedicated himself full-time to cinema. His first feature film, Vent du Nord (Northern Wind), premiered in 2017 and has earned him international recognition. In 2024, he presented a poignant social drama, Le Pont, at the Cairo International Film Festival, reflecting his ongoing commitment to socially conscious storytelling.
