Funke Akindele is the highest grossing Nollywood actor, producer, and director of all time. To some, she got it because she's a woman, to others, she's just lucky, to another faction, she just dey use people take dey farm aura and steeze.
But what do they say about the head that wears the crown? Heavy it is and for Funke in the Nollywood space, she's carrying the crown thus it's definitely going to be heavy for her.
Away from the beer parlor conversations, let's take a look at her with the crown.
She recently announced a new movie for December titled The Four: No One Fights Alone boasting of a wide array of Nollywood finest from Uzor Arukwe to Bisola Aiyeola, Timini Egbuson, Waje, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ronke Oshodi, Lateef Adedimeji, Chioma Chukwuka, Wumi Toriola, Ali Nuhu, and many others.
The introduction of the new movie alone is a stand out to whet your appetite and get your mind rolled out for the experience and this isn't a one off thing. She did it for Everybody Loves Jenifa, A Tribe Called Judah, Behind the Scenes, and now The Four: No One Fights Alone.
Very few producers if any at all go the length she goes to when it comes to pre release marketing and for every new movie, the strategy is always different from the previous. With Funke Akindele and FAAN, there's no "I've seen this before" - she has been able to master the act of keeping you at the edge of your seat.
Aside the announcement, one trait we've consistently seen with her is that she doesn't relax nor give breathing space immediately after the introduction. From the introduction moment, you immediately begin to see various posters, video content, influencer marketing, cast showcase, souvenir, public outreachs, and whatever you can think of, she does them all.
Her methods of dancing, skits have been questioned and debated overtime but that hasn't deterred her or stopped her from doubling down on the efforts and she's most definitely going to capitalize on those debates this time around.
What do they say about publicity again? There's no bad publicity at all.
Then when it comes to the release, she spares nothing, she goes all out yet again as a first timer, hungry for success, pushing, and doing everything possible to get the result she wants.
While not the first time, she's out again with a mix of veterans, new faces, social media influencers such as Motell the garri ambassador and there's certainly going to be more surprises ahead.
Since she's done it before, again and again, it's evident that she's coming all out to break her records, set new ones, and keep Nollywood buzzing in the festive season.
She is ready, her core fans are ready, are you? Save yourself a seat for The Four: No One Fights Alone which starts showing from December 11th 2026 in cinemas across Nigeria.
