Meet the new queen of Nollywood. She brings a fresh presence to the screen, and with her talent, beauty, discipline, passion, and magnetic charm, the future of Nollywood looks golden.
Party Jollof Africa sat down with the brilliant and stunning Kemi Aluko well known as Diva Gold for a warm, honest, sometimes playful conversation about her journey, craft, and dreams.
Grab your popcorn and let’s dive in.
PartyJollof Africa: Let’s start from the beginning. For anyone meeting you for the first time, who will you say Kemi Aluko is and how is she different from Diva Gold?
Diva Gold: (smiles softly) Well, Kemi Aluko is the little girl with the big dream; Diva Gold is the woman living that dream boldly.
PartyJollof Africa: Beautiful. And speaking of dreams, many actors talk about that one moment that changes everything. What would you say was your breakout movie?
Diva Gold: (shakes head gently) Let me just say I’ve not had my breakout movie yet. I believe it’s on the way, and everything I’m doing now is preparing me for that moment.
PartyJollof Africa: That’s such a grounded outlook. While you prepare for that moment, you’ve played a wide range of roles. How do you usually decide what to take on?
Diva Gold: The truth is that I don’t really get to choose roles because I believe every role should be played by an actor, but if I’m to choose, I’ll choose roles that challenge me emotionally and mentally. If the script has truth, depth, and a heartbeat, I’m in.
PartyJollof Africa: Over time, you’ve worked with so many names in the industry. Is there anyone who left a strong mark on you?
Diva Gold: (laughs lightly) I’ve worked with many amazing actors, but one who truly influenced me is someone who reminded me that discipline is the real talent. I don’t have to mention the name now, do I?
PartyJollof Africa: (laughs) Fair enough, there is no need for naming names. Discipline seems to be a theme with you. What keeps you pushing yourself?
Diva Gold: To be honest, so many things do, but I’ll say most importantly is growth, the hunger to become better than my last performance.
PartyJollof Africa: Growth also needs honest feedback. How do you deal with criticism these days?
Diva Gold: (rolls eyes playfully) Before, I would give gbas for gbos, but recently I figured out that most of those people say things just for attention. I’ve gone into many DMs asking politely why they said that, and their responses are, “I’m sorry mama, just wanted to get your attention.” So I filter it. If it helps me grow, I take it. If it’s noise, I drop it.
PartyJollof Africa: Let’s talk about life outside the industry, what brings you joy outside of acting?
Diva Gold: Making people happy and being in my space. (smiles) I also have an online drink business that I run.
PartyJollof Africa: Looking back now, what’s something you wish you knew at the start of your journey?
Diva Gold: If there’s something I wished I knew from the start, it will be the fact that patience is part of the journey. Everything unfolds at its own pace, and talent is also not enough.
PartyJollof Africa: Stardom comes with a lot of pressure. How do you stay anchored?
Diva Gold: There’s a lot that comes with stardom but then, I stay grounded by remembering where I’m coming from and who I’m doing this for (myself), so I can’t afford to be arrogant if I want to get to where I’m aiming.
PartyJollof Africa: Looking at the industry, there are a lot of misconceptions about Nollywood actors but then, what’s one misconception about Nollywood actors that you’d love to correct?
Diva Gold: It’s a lot but the very one I will talk about is the fact that people think it’s all glam and that actors are fornicators or extroverts when in the real case, it isn’t so. People don’t even see the work, the sacrifice, the discipline that is being put in and I can say it that most of my colleagues don’t even go out except it’s work.
PartyJollof Africa: That’s a lot and hopefully, fans get to understand this about entertainers. Back into the industry and work, what is one moment on set that has stayed with you the most?
Diva Gold: (smiles) Well, to me, every time I finish a scene and the crew members clap for me or the director says, “Good job”, I count it as a memorable one and I feel fulfilled every time, and it makes me improve and do better.
PartyJollof Africa: If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
Diva Gold: Against All Odds, because nothing about my journey has been ordinary. I’m a testament that God is good.
PartyJollof Africa: And when you’re off set, how do you unwind?
Diva Gold: Quiet space, a spa treat, good music, and peace. That’s my recharge.
PartyJollof Africa: Great choices, what’s one thing on your bucket list you’re excited to cross off someday?
Diva Gold: Winning an international award and dedicating it to God and everyone who believed in me is one thing I’ve dreamt of and continue to look up to achieving.
PartyJollof Africa: Every actor does have a dream, what’s that dream project you hope to be part of soon?
Diva Gold: Being on set with Tyler Perry, major African epic stories, powerful women, deep storytelling, and global impact.
PartyJollof Africa: As a person and an actor, do you have a quote you live by?
Diva Gold: I believe every human will definitely have a quote they live by and for me, it’s the quote that says “your gift and grace will make room for you, but your discipline will keep you there.”
PartyJollof Africa: Amazing mantra to live. Coming to the end of the session, we are curios, Nollywood has many icons. Who are your all-time favourites?
Diva Gold: (laugs) You want to set me up but I will not fall into that pit, I do have a lot and mentioning a few will put me on the spot, so let’s just keep it at I do have a lot.
PartyJollof Africa: (laughs) Well, it was an honest curious question and never meant to put you on the spot but then, before we wrap up, what would you love to tell your fans?
Diva Gold: Honestly, any moment I have to talk to my fans, I spend almost all the time to appreciate them for being by me and that’s same thing I have to say today to them. Thank you for loving me. Please love me very loudly. You’re the reason I show up stronger each day.
PartyJollof Africa: That’s heartful and beautiful at the same time. With 2025 almost done, what should we expect from you in 2026?
Diva Gold: (smiles quietly) While there a re lot of plans, I can’t begin to mention but I just want God to show me mercy, then I won’t need any announcement.
PartyJollof Africa: That’s great, it was a beautiful time with you and we hope to see you sometime again and wish the years ahead will be greater than what you’ve already experienced.
Diva Gold: Amen oh, thank you for having me!
As the conversation wrapped, one thing was clear, Diva Gold isn’t just another rising star; she’s a woman rooted in purpose, discipline, and deep faith. Her humility shines as brightly as her talent, and her journey is only just beginning. With her passion, gratitude, and drive for growth, it’s easy to see why audiences are falling in love with her.
If the future of Nollywood is golden, Diva Gold is one of the reasons why. We can’t wait to watch her soar.
