From screen to spotlight, Suky, the actor from the popular movie SUKY shines with passion and dedication that's contagious. With growing body of works in Nollywood and his reputation for bringing complexity to his roles, he is definitely an actor to watch.

James Damilare popularly known as SUKY is our spotlight at Party Jollof Africa this month and he spoke about his journey his inspiration and everything in between recently in an interview.

PJA :What was growing up like? Share your childhood memories with us.

SUKY: Growing up was amazing, thanks to GOD and Family. I enjoyed my childhood. I was quite playful  so you can imagine how much fun I had. lol. I’m grateful to GOD. 

PJA: Was acting intentional for you?

SUKY:   Yes Acting is  intentional for me, I have always loved acting from my young age. From joining drama team in primary school to secondary church drama and all that. It is something I have always been passionate about. 

PJA : Tell us your experience  as a greenhorn in Nollywood? How has it been?

SUKY: It’s been amazing, the love and the support from everyone is real. I’m still trying to navigate through the industry though but it’s has been an amazing experience. 

PJA : Who are some of your biggest inspirations in Nollywood?

SUKY: Haaa them choke!first is ODUNLADE ADEKOLA. He has always been an inspiration. 

Second is, my godfather, OLAROTIMI FAKUNLE. My back bone. He is an inspiration to me and he has had so much impact in my life. 

Third person is  FUNKE AKINDELE. From the time of  Jennifer. I have always looked forward to working with her and it will happen by HIS grace soon.

PJA : Tell us how you landed the role of "Suky" in the blockbuster movie "Suky".

SUKY : All I can say is it makes no sense and when it’s makes no sense but it’s keeps you wondering how it happened. That’s GODs work. It was just a random day like every other day. I stayed with OLAROTIMI FAKUNLE. I just got back from lecture and he just said “ can you bulk up in two months?” At first I didn’t take him seriously but until he got angry for not being serious . Then I knew it was real. I started to workout because I was skinny, and I kept him updated with pictures of me until one day I was at the gym when he called and told me OLA CARDOSO  I call him BIG CARDO, will reach out to me. I didn’t know who BIG CARDO was  then. When He reached out to me, from that day I have no idea how it happened so fast. We had a meeting started training and boom we don dey shoot. It all happened so fast. NA GOD RUN AM. 

 PJA : Are there specific roles you want to explore in the future?

SUKY : Yes, a Psychopath like The Joker. I think it will be an interesting role. But till I get that role I can play any role through Christ who strengthens me. 

PJA : Can you describe the process of getting into "Suky 's character". while filming.

SUKY : It wasn’t so difficult getting in character, with the help of OLAROTIMI and BIG CARDO. Getting in character was made easy. After the first day shooting  the director BIG CARDO, called me to have a discussion and he told me something that was missing in my character and that helped me from that day till the end.

PJA: What's the upcoming project you're excited about and you can't wait to share?

SUKY : SON OF THE SOIL, I really cannot wait for the world to see another masterpiece. Nollywood no de play again o. 

PJA : If you could switch life with any character in the movie Suky,who will it be?

SUKY : Honestly, nobody because I love Suky. 

PJA : If you're not an actor,what will you be doing?

SUKY: I  would be in the entertainment industry still maybe the music industry but definitely entertainment. 

PJA: What words do you have for your fans.

SUKY: Keep supporting me and I won't disappoint you. I'm here to stay! God you all.
