Kuti's Career Palace
Overview
Synopsis
Kuti’s Career Palace is a Nigerian comedy-drama series crafted by Rotimi Salami, who also leads the production and directing efforts. The show pays tribute to Salami’s career mentor, the legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. The series offers a lighthearted yet insightful portrait of the quirky Kuti family. Central characters include Salami Kuti—portrayed by Hafiz Oyetoro (aka Saka)—an Uncle figure obsessed with Fela’s music and lifestyle. Rotimi Salami himself stars as Valentine Kuti, a mischievous brother whose sleeping-pill-fueled coma prank is a chaotic subplot. The youngest sibling, Titus (Adedeji Salami), smart and wary, tries to dodge his siblings’ antics. Delphine Kuti, their only daughter (Susan Udoma), brings her own comedic flair with her confidence and charm. Other standout characters include Queen Marley, the reggae-loving house help; Aunty Pepper, the family’s so-called “terrorist”; and the eccentric neighbor Sassy (Jumoke Arinola) and her sister Barbie (Blessing Obasi). Through its colorful cast and humorous scenarios, “Kuti’s Career Palace” blends satire and family-household humor to celebrate cultural roots, comedic storytelling, and admiration for Fela’s legacy.
