Jude Abaga

Jude Abaga, widely known as M.I Abaga, is a Nigerian rapper, record producer, and songwriter celebrated for shaping modern African hip-hop. Born on October 4, 1981, in Jos, Plateau State, he rose to prominence in 2006 with his breakthrough single “Crowd Mentality,” quickly becoming one of Nigeria’s most influential rap voices. In 2008, he released his debut album Talk About It, which earned critical acclaim and solidified his reputation as a pioneer of conscious rap in the country. Over the years, M.I has released several successful projects including MI2: The Movie and The Chairman, blending witty lyricism with social commentary and African rhythms. Beyond his artistry, Jude Abaga is known for his leadership in the music industry. As the former CEO of Chocolate City, one of Nigeria’s biggest record labels, he played a key role in discovering and nurturing talents who have shaped Afrobeat and hip-hop culture. With multiple awards to his name, M.I Abaga remains an influential figure, using his platform to inspire younger generations and push African rap to global recognition.
