Chakib Taleb-Bendiab (born 1982) is an acclaimed Algerian filmmaker, screenwriter, and composer. His short films -Sang Froid (2013) and Black Spirit -have won international recognition, including a Best Screenplay award in Japan. His debut feature film, Algiers (also known as 196 Meters), won the Grand Prize for Best Feature at the 2024 Rhode Island International Film Festival. The film has been selected to represent Algeria at the 97th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. He works between Algeria and Paris, bringing a deeply human and socially conscious lens to his cinematic storytelling.
