Alice Carvalho is a multidisciplinary artist from Northeast Brazil whose "force of nature" performances have made her a symbol of the new wave of Brazilian cinema. Raised in Parnamirim, she began acting as a child and eventually created her own breakout project, the award-winning web series SEPTO (2016), which she wrote and starred in. She achieved massive national and international fame in 2023 as Dinorah Vaqueiro in the Prime Video series Cangaço Novo (New Bandits). Her portrayal of the only female member of a bank-robbing gang was widely praised for its raw physicality and emotional intensity. In 2025, she reached a new career milestone in Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent (O Agente Secreto). She plays Fátima Nascimento, a professor and the wife of Armando (Wagner Moura). Her performance, filmed during a break from her role in the major telenovela Renascer, was a standout at the Cannes Film Festival, where she was celebrated for bringing an "elegant intensity" to the political thriller.
