Alison Wright (born July 12, 1976, in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, England) is an English actress best known for her standout role as Martha Hanson on the acclaimed spy-drama series The Americans (2013-2017), for which she received a 2017 Primetime Emmy nomination. After studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and The Barrow Group in New York, she transitioned from stage to screen, earning praise for film roles in The Nanny Diaries (2007) and The Accountant (2016). More recently she portrayed Ruth Wardell on the dystopian series Snowpiercer (2020-2024).
