With a career spanning several decades, she has contributed to a range of productions as a production designer, art director, and standby props specialist, helping shape the visual identity of numerous South African stories on screen. She is recognized for her work on projects such as Otelo Burning, Protect the Nation, and House of Love, where her contributions to visual storytelling and set design gained industry attention. Van Hemert won a SAFTA Golden Horn Award for Best Art Direction in TV Drama for the acclaimed series Bay of Plenty, further establishing her reputation within South African film and television production design.
