Biography
Awal Abdulfatai Rahmat is a Nigerian filmmaker, director, and producer known for his impactful storytelling and contributions to African cinema. Born in the 1980s, he graduated with a B.A. Hons in English and Literature from the University of Lagos. His career began with Digital Interactive Media, where he produced notable Nigerian TV shows. In 2013, he moved to South Africa, working with Planet Radio TV and later establishing McAwal Concerns Productions. His directorial debut, Descent (2017), earned multiple awards, including Best African Featured Film. Other notable works include Silent Scream, Chain, and Penance (2025). Awal also contributed as a content director for Big Brother Naija Season
