Dr Aduragbemi Banke
Biography
Dr. Aduragbemi Banke-Thomas is a Nigerian physician and global health researcher specializing in maternal and newborn health. He earned his medical degree from Lagos State University and advanced degrees through the Erasmus Mundus Europubhealth program, obtaining a Master of Public Health from the University of Sheffield and a Master of Health Policy and Programme Management from EHESP and Sciences Po. He completed his PhD at the University of Liverpool/Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, where he pioneered the use of social return on investment methodology in maternal health research. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and holds an AXA Research Fellowship at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research focuses on improving access to emergency obstetric care in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in urban settings like Lagos, Nigeria. Dr. Banke-Thomas is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Ottawa and a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Reproductive Health Research and Innovation in Nigeria. He is actively involved in policy advocacy and has contributed to various international health initiatives.
