Biography
Gavin Hood is a South African filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and actor, born on May 12, 1963, in Johannesburg. He gained international acclaim for writing and directing Tsotsi (2005), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Hood has since directed a range of films, including Rendition (2007), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Ender's Game (2013), Eye in the Sky (2015), and Official Secrets (2019). His work often explores complex political and ethical themes. Educated in law at the University of the Witwatersrand, he later studied screenwriting and directing in California
