Jack Fisk

Biography

Jack Fisk is a master of recreating American history, known for his "immersive" approach, he often builds entire structures from scratch using period-appropriate tools and materials rather than using studio lots or digital effects. He frequently collaborates with directors who prioritize natural light and fluid movement, most notably Terrence Malick (working on all of Malick’s first eight films) and David Lynch (a childhood friend). In 2025/2026, Fisk achieved a significant career milestone. After his acclaimed work on Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), he served as the production designer for Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme (2025). His recreation of 1950s New York earned him his fourth Academy Award nomination in early 2026. Critics have hailed his recent work as "beautifully frenetic," perfectly capturing the energy of the New York ping-pong scene.
