Maciek Szczerbowski is a Polish-born director, animator and illustrator who works in Canada as one half of the creative duo Clyde Henry Productions with partner Chris Lavis. He first gained international recognition with the stop-motion animated short Madame Tutli-Putli, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film and more than forty festival awards. Over two decades, Szczerbowski and Lavis have built a reputation for hand-crafted, surreal animation that blends puppetry, illustration and cinematic storytelling. Their work includes adaptations and original projects such as Higglety Pigglety Pop!, an adaptation of a Maurice Sendak story featuring notable voice talent, immersive VR animation, and their latest acclaimed short The Girl Who Cried Pearls, which has been shortlisted for major awards and featured at top international festivals. Szczerbowski’s films are noted for their emotional depth, detailed craft and artistic ambition, making him a respected figure in contemporary independent animation.
