Biography
Margot Robbie was born on July 2, 1990 in Dalby, Queensland, Australia. She grew up largely on her grandparents’ farm and later moved to the Gold Coast, where she attended Somerset College. Her acting career began in 2008 when she joined the Australian soap Neighbours as Donna Freedman. After leaving the show in 2011 she relocated to the U.S., where she appeared in Pan Am and had her film-breakthrough as Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). Since then she has shown wide range: playing Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and becoming a household name with her portrayal of Harley Quinn in several DC films. In 2023 she starred in and produced Barbie, which became one of her most successful projects. Robbie co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which backs films and series often led by or about women. She has earned nominations for multiple major awards including the Academy Awards, BAFTAs and Golden Globes. Outside of work she is married to filmmaker Tom Ackerley; they share both personal and professional collaboration.
