Colin James Farrell, born May 31, 1976 in Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland, is an actor celebrated for both blockbuster films and daring independent work. He trained at the Gaiety School of Acting before landing his first major TV role in Ballykissangel in 1998. Early in his film career he stood out in Tigerland (2000), then starred in high-profile projects like Minority Report, Phone Booth, Alexander, Miami Vice, Daredevil, The New World, and Intermission. Farrell has won Golden Globes, a SAG Award, and has been nominated for Academy and Emmy Awards. Critically, he received wide acclaim for In Bruges (2008), and more recently for The Banshees of Inisherin and his portrayal of the Penguin in The Batman.
